New Wrangler ProRodeo Tour underway

On April 11, the PRCA unveiled a new wrinkle.

A new tour – the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour – will begin today at the Clark County Fair & Rodeo in Logandale, Nev. The rodeo runs April 11-15 at the Clark County Fairgrounds.

The Tour will feature 23 rodeos – beginning with Logandale, and concluding with the finale presented by Justin Boots, Sept. 6-9 in Puyallup, Wash.

The media coverage of the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour will be divided between ProRodeoTV.com and the Wrangler Network.

ProRodeoTV.com will livestream 12 broadcasts, while the Wrangler Network will livestream the other 11 Tour rodeos.

ProRodeoTV.com will livestream the Clark County Fair & Rodeo, April 14, at 7 p.m. (PT) and April 15, at 6 p.m. To subscribe to ProRodeoTV.com go to http://www.prorodeo.com/prorodeotv-subscribe.

Additionally, Prescott, Ariz.; Nampa, Idaho; Hermiston, Ore.; Caldwell, Idaho, and Puyallup, Wash., are scheduled to be televised on CBS Sports Network.

“Wrangler has been an outstanding partner to the PRCA and the sport of rodeo for a long time, so it only makes sense that they would be the sponsor of our premier tour,” said PRCA CEO George Taylor. “This new tour is something that contestants and rodeo fans alike can be excited about, and it will only add to the great regular season the PRCA already offers.”

With the Wrangler Tour, all cowboys eligible to compete in the tour rodeos will have the opportunity to earn Tour points and qualify for the Justin Boots Tour Finale in Puyallup.

For an explanation of the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour points system, go to www.prorodeo.com.

“The Wrangler Pro Rodeo Tour format allows contestants the opportunity to earn points and qualify for the Justin Boots playoffs in Puyallup, Wash., in September,” said Jeff Chadwick, director of special events for Wrangler Western Wear. “Having each WPRT rodeo livestreamed, half on Wrangler Network and half on ProRodeoTV.com, allows fans and PRCA members and their families to watch these rodeos in real time. We value our partnership with these great PRCA rodeos in enabling us to bring these events live, in addition to the Justin Boots Finals and four other rodeos that will be on a delayed broadcast on CBS Sports Network.”

Jacobs Crawley, the 2015 saddle bronc world champion, is upbeat about the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour.

“I think the tour is going to be exciting with the spots we are hitting along the way,” said Crawley. “The crowds should be great, and the stock will be the best that area has to offer and you’re going to get the top cowboys at that rodeo.

“Plus, everybody has a shot at it. If you can get into that rodeo, you have a shot at advancing and to start accumulating points, which will lead to the playoffs (in Puyallup). The streaming (at these events) will be huge for these guys because everything is going streaming, streaming is the new TV. Having that available to cowboys at these rodeos, while they are working toward a playoff finale, I think it will be great showcasing great rodeos with great cowboys.”
