The first week of August brought the heat in PRCA competition to the tune of $1.78 million in prize money between 33 rodeos across North America. With so much money up for grabs, 38 cowboys saw their position improve within the Top 15. Team roping heeler Cody Cowden had the biggest move this week within the Top 15, from 23rd to 15th.

Since 1988, the Farm-City Pro Rodeo in Hermiston, Ore., has grown to become one of the hottest spots in the summer run, but only the top scores and fastest times make the rodeo’s record book. Tie-down roper Cody Ohl set two records in 1998. Ohl made a 6.9-second run, which helped him to also set the two-head average record of 15.6 seconds.
