5-11, 170…Single…Nickname J-Byrd…Father Randy works for the city of Wayland, Iowa, with water control his primary area of responsibility, and mom Beth is a respiratory therapist at Jefferson County Hospital (Fairfield, Iowa); sister, Gwen, is a teacher; younger brothers, Tad and Zane, are high school students...Dad rodeoed for 19 years…Works in light construction when not on the rodeo trail, installing siding on houses, shingling roofs, putting steel tin on barns and putting up sheet rock…Enjoys outdoor sports, including fly fishing, bow hunting for deer and snow skiing …Works out in a gym three or four days a week…Competed in track, baseball, football, wrestling and basketball at Waco High School (Wayland) ; was all-conference or all-district in baseball, football and basketball. A second baseman, he considered accepting a baseball scholarship to play in college, but opted to concentrate on rodeo…Brother Tad was part of Waco’s state champion shuttle hurdle relay team in 2008 ….
