• 2005: Won an event-best $99,321 at the Wrangler NFR en route to a share of the average title with 837.5 points on 10 head. Entered the Wrangler NFR in 14th place and ended the year as the reserve world champion with $167,835. Placed in eight of 10 rounds, sharing the victory in the third round with an 87-point ride on Burns Rodeo’s Blue Steel and won the fifth round with an 88.5-pointer on Smith, Harper & Morgan’s River Boat Annie. Won the Wyoming State Fair and Rodeo (Douglas, Wyo.); the Northwest Montana Fair and Rodeo (Kalispell, Mont.) and the Spanish Fork (Utah) Fiesta Days Rodeo.
• 2004: Won his first world title and Wrangler NFR average title with 836.5 points on 10 head. Set a single-season earnings record in bareback riding with $225,181. Placed in eight of 10 rounds, winning Round 1 with an 87-point ride on Classic Pro Rodeo’s Dippin Wise Guy. Won a total of $97,962 at the Wrangler NFR. Won the Fort Worth (Texas) Stock Show & Rodeo and the Buffalo Bill Rodeo (North Platte, Neb.); was the second-highest money winner over the Fourth of July Cowboy Christmas segment of the season with $26,302 behind Dan Mortensen ($26,415). Co-champion at the Cody (Wyo.) Stampede; the Ponoka (Alberta) Stampede and the Lawton (Okla.) Rangers Rodeo. Finished tied for second at the Summer Tour Finale (Omaha, Neb.) and third at the Tour Championships (Dallas)

5-8, 160 ... Wife, Charidie (married Nov. 7, 2009); son, Chris, and daughter, Dayanera ... Serves as an assistant rodeo coach at his alma mater, Casper College ... Hobbies include riding reining horses and colts, playing golf and fly fishing ... His dad, Lon, competed so Kelly was around rodeo at an early age. They had an indoor arena that the local college team used, but it burned down in 1981 and they never rebuilt it, so rodeo was put on the back burner. He then got involved in showing reining and cutting horses. He was also involved in wrestling and football, winning the Wyoming state wrestling title in his weight class as a senior ... After high school, he lived in Eaton, Colo., and went over to five-time World Champion Bareback Rider Bruce Ford’s ranch with some of his buddies. He got on three horses there, and Bruce bet him $1 on his last ride. He rode and won his first $1 in rodeo from Bruce. He then competed at some amateur rodeos and was offered a rodeo scholarship to Casper College … He has an older brother, Chris, who won the bareback riding title at the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo (Pocatello, Idaho) in 2006, and a younger brother, Zeb, who builds houses in Casper…Has a regular workout routine that consists of running two miles every day and lifting weights … Appeared in four video spots to promote the Casper (Wyo.) Star-Tribune's coverage of the 2008 College National Finals Rodeo ... Travels with Scott Montague … Rodeo idol is Mark Garrett ...
