Murphy had to withdraw from competition, and following the Wrangler NFR, he underwent surgery to repair the break and missed most of the 2007 season; won his event title at the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo (Pocatello, Idaho) and ProRodeo Tour Summer Finale (Omaha, Neb.); won bull riding titles at the NILE Pro Rodeo (Billings, Mont.), Golden Spike Rodeo (Tremonton, Utah), Gooding (Idaho) County Pro Rodeo and Western Stampede (West Jordan, Utah); claimed Wrangler ProRodeo Tour Round and average titles at the Farm-City Pro Rodeo (Hermiston, Ore.) and Clark County Fair & Rodeo (Logandale, Nev.); finished 7th in the final world standings with a career-high $129,169
• 2005: Won the Lions Dixie Roundup (St. George, Utah) with a 92-point ride, won the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo (Casper, Wyo.) and the Woodlake Lions Club PRCA Rodeo (Woodlake, Calif.); was co-champion in the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour Round at the Dodge City (Kan.) Roundup Rodeo. Finished rookie season 25th in the world with $49,971
