5-7, 155 … Single … Works as an instrumentation technician for an oil company when he is not on the road competing … Travels with Justin Berg, Dustin Flundra and Luke Butterfield … Herzog has worn a helmet while riding since he was 15 and got kicked in the head by a bucking horse; he underwent brain surgery to remove a blood clot … He tested a hockey helmet before he settled on the kind of helmet worn by downhill skiers … His progress as a professional rodeo cowboy was impeded by a series of injuries in 2007 and a traffic accident in 2008 in which his vehicle was T-boned, leaving him with a broken pelvis, broken sacrum, broken ribs and internal bleeding in his stomach and brain; he was given less than a 10-percent chance of surviving by attending physicians  … Uses the P90X exercise system daily to keep himself in shape
